Did you ever have a moment when you said to yourself, “I’m tired of playing it safe?”
There is an intuition that kicks in and a veil that is uncovered when you realize you have been playing it safe for too long (or at least that is what happened to me).
I always describe it as the moment when I added color into my life.
There is much comfort in the comfort zone and you do not need me to tell you that. It is safe, it is certain and it is definitely predicable. I know without hesitation that we have to reach a level of comfort to feel confident to level-up.
Know that the comfort zone is a necessary step in growth, but you are NOT meant to stay there forever. Think of the comfort zone as walking up your stairs and instead of making it to the top, you stop halfway and sit. That may be a corny analogy, but it is the best way for you to visualize what you are doing when you play it safe.
You may be in this season where you are looking to step out of your comfort zone. You may be wanting to venture out and try some thing new and I hope as you read this you continually remind yourself that every single person you look to for inspiration reached this level and felt the same feelings of nervousness and uncertainty.
It’s a right of passage from the safe zone to the unknown and trust me when I say this, “The unknown is an endless ocean of possibilities.”
My best advice is to find your cheerleaders. Find people who have crossed over the threshold to turn to for advice. I also recommend finding people who are exactly where you are to take this leap with. Most importantly, don’t forget about those people you see so much potential in. They may need you to hold their hand and pull them from behind you to beside you.
How amazing would it be to step out of your comfort zone with someone beside you?
If you or someone you love has been playing it safe, take this as your sign to add some color to your life, step out of your comfort zone and dive into the ocean of the unknown.
