Being a mom is a hard job, period. I’m not even a mom and I can tell you while growing up, I watched my mom day and night live every single moment of her life for me.
A beautiful transition takes place when a woman becomes a mother.
It’s hard for me to grasp the love of a mother because I have not experienced this yet, but I see through my mom’s everyday words and actions just how much she loves me.
I’d compare motherhood to walking on a tightrope. At any moment, the slightest movement can change the course from projecting forward.
While growing up, I watched my mom go through many life-altering experiences. Even with the motions of life, she always remains balanced and holds herself with the utmost dignity and grace.
Even at her weakest, she gives her all to any and everyone, which says much about the kind of person she is.
My mom is “that person” that everyone turns to when they need someone to talk to. With all that she has been through, she has grown to have the most wisdom of anyone I know and she has earned the title of someone you can trust.
I’d say I inherited her wisdom and have compiled a few words of my own based off of her teachings.
My relationship with my mom has truly grown into something that I never thought she and I would experience. My mom and her mother were very close, so close that I felt a pressure to be equally close to my mom and strived for a long time to have this.
What I did not realize was that this kind of relationship takes time and pruning.
I am not going to sugarcoat our relationship, it took us a long time to reach the point we are at now.
All my life, my mom has been working tirelessly instilling values in me, teaching me lessons and showing me tough love…all with the hope that one day the pieces would come together and she would get to enjoy the fruits of her labor.
I know I put up a fight for many years. I bucked the system trying to establish my independence (often making my own rules) and trying with all my might to steer the course of my ship on my own without anyone’s help.
What I did not realize until recently is that I was never fully in control and never will be.
You see…every wrong turn I make, who did I call? My mom. Every mistake and moment I need advice or help, she is the person I call on. Every victory and exciting moment, she is the first one I call to share the news.
Get where I am going with this…There will never be a moment in my life that I do not call on my mom and never will be. Why? Because she is my constant.
There are moments I wish I could go back to those teenage years, take back a few words and hit the undo on a few actions, but I do not have that luxury. However, what I can do is share a piece of advice with all of you who may feel like you have it all figured out…
Listen to your Momma, she knows what is best. Never hang up the phone without saying I love you and always, always listen and THINK before you speak.
If I were granted one wish it would be to have more time with the people I love…especially my mom. Save yourself some time by appreciating the constant person in your life, your mom.
Thank you for the constant lessons and loving me at my best and my worst. Most importantly, thank you for giving me your all, even on the days I know you are too tired to do so. You never falter at anything you do, especially when it comes to motherhood. I pray each day that I continue to grow by your example.

Jessica, I love your willingness to put yourself out there. Your love and honesty for those who helped steer your life shows just how they influence your life on a daily bases. I love reading your blogs and watching you grow into a strong fearless woman. ❤️
That is so insanely sweet, Donna. I appreciate it. My goal is to share the truth with you all and shine light on the good, bad and ugly. I want this space to be a place people can turn to when they need guidance or a dose of inspiration. I do not like the fictitious unrealistic life that many put on for social media because that is not reality. Thank you for the sweet feedback. It means more than you know💕
