Acadia Music Festival- The Art Market

So excited to share this month’s aspect of Acadia Music Festival in Thibodaux, Louisiana. If you missed last month’s feature, be sure to check it out HERE to learn about the festival, how it got started and the wonderful contributions this event makes to local organizations in our community.

With that being said, if you are a reader of the blog, you may have noticed that many of my posts have been focusing on local artists like, Amber Leblanc Studio and Sarah K Kreations. Did you know that there will be a local art market at the festival ? How cool is this?

The art market is an added artistic element to the festival.

Amy Hebert says, “All of these artists are amazing and being local is an added bonus.  We have so many talented and creative people in our community!”

In the market, you will find local artists from NOLA, Baton Rouge and Thibodaux selling their work. Some items that will be available for purchase are paintings, body and bath products, jewelry, and photography.

Here are some of the artists you will be able to find at the festival: Cyd Toups, Becky Ford Jewelry Designs, Dear Boutique, Martee Artwork, Southern Rhoades Apothecary, Sarah K Kreations, Pier Punk Fishing Apparel, Stacey Fabre, String Theory: Guitar String Jewelry, Maria Boudreaux, Soap & Co., Jessica Kilgen Cassel, 4 Seas Fisheries.

Amy Hebert says, “For the 2017 festival, I am hoping the artists sold some of their work.  I know it was probably some great exposure either way and will be for this year’s featured artists.”

The idea behind the art market was to bring another artistic element to the festival all while enjoying live music and great food.

Amy Hebert says, ” We choose one special artist each year to design our festival poster.  This year the artist featured is Cyd Toups.  She has painted a wonderfully whimsical poster for us and poster sales go straight to the foundation. Last year, Elaine Waguespack did a fantastic job with the poster as well.”

The poster is something that is very special to the festival. “It is what captures the feel of the festival,” says Amy Hebert. The cost of posters are $50 for a signed copy and $35 for an unsigned copy. 2017 posters are still available for purchase as well.

If you are planning to attend the festival this year, be sure to drop in and check out the market. Check out the link HERE and read about the local artists who will be interested.

Personally, I am super excited to meet many of these artists and hopefully pick up a few things for myself.

The South Louisiana region is filled with so much talent and I am so excited these visionaries will be able to showcase their work at a fun and family oriented festival!

See you all at Acadia Music Festival on October 6th!
