Since my instagram story two weeks ago about collagen, I have had may of you ask me why I take collagen, how I take it, the kind that I buy and where I get it from.
So, why do I take collagen? To begin, my number one reason is that I have reached the age when my body is no longer producing 100% of collagen on its own. When we reach the age of 25, our bodies produce 1.8% less collagen than the year before. It may not seem like much, but this adds up.
With advancements in wellness, we are provided supplemental collagen that we can take daily. HERE is a link to the collagen I take.
I have spent some time researching the affects of collagen and want to share this with all of you! Here are the 7 reasons why I take collagen and why you should too!
1. Improves Health of Skin and Hair
Don’t we all want healthy, plush and hydrated skin? What about healthy, shiny hair? I know I do! I have personally never struggled with healthy hair, but I can totally relate to anyone who suffers with dry and scarred skin. I have tried so many topical treatments to fix my skin, but the truth is, the most success I’ve had was improving my internal wellness to reflect myself externally. Our skin is our biggest organ that we unknowingly neglect (myself included). We put makeup on it, torture it in the sun, and often don’t drink enough water to keep it hydrated. Don’t even get me started on the affects of lack of sleep! Do you suffer with fine lines you want to get rid of? How about tightening the elasticity of your skin? Taking collagen daily will help to improve your skin and hair.
2. Reduces Joint Pain
Do you suffer from joint pain or want to prevent it for the future? Collagen could be your answer. With the natural progression of age, our joints are bound to feel the affects of it. With taking collagen daily, we have the ability to reduce the intensity of joint pain we experience.
3. Helps Heal Leaky Gut
Gut health is something that I have taken very seriously for some time now, but that conversation is for another post and another day. For now, I will give you the basics of how collagen can improve a leaky gut. Collagen contains an amino acid, glutamine, which prevents inflammation of the gut and leaky gut syndrome. Taking collagen daily is key to improving digestive relief.
4. Boost Metabolism
I have never had more energy than the last two months of taking collagen daily. Now I know what you are thinking, “You are taking collagen in your coffee filled with caffeine, which provides false energy.” Though this is true, my energy is lasting from the moment I wake up in the morning to the moment I hit my pillow at night. From observing my habits the last few months, I am going to bed at a more reasonable time and waking up energized. This shows me that my metabolism is improving and providing me the energy to make it through a full day which helps to create a healthy sleep schedule.
5. Strengthen Hair, Nails and Teeth
Personally, I have always had strong teeth, nails and hair. I haven’t seen much difference with this affect of collagen, but many people I know who take collagen daily have expressed how they have seen improvement with their hair, nails and teeth. For those of you who may be struggling with any or all of these aspects of your health, your solution may be something as simple as collagen.
6. Improves Liver Health
The function of the liver is vital to our overall health and wellness. Although I do not personally have liver problems, I feel better knowing that I am providing my liver with vital amino acids, which are contained in collagen, to maintain a healthy liver, helping to improve my life span and the overall function of my body.
7. Protects Cardiovascular Health
South Louisiana folks, what is the number one thing we hear people are suffering with? Heart disease, heart attacks, clogged and blocked arteries. Am I right or am I right!? Taking collagen daily can help to protect your cardiovascular health and add longevity to your life.
From what I learned about collagen through research, I want you all to know that taking collagen at any age is very beneficial, even though you are not 25. For those of you young folks, start early! Get a jumpstart to your life long wellness. It is never too early to start taking care of yourself. For those of you past the age of 25, taking collagen daily could help ease the affect of aging.
In other words, that means more birthdays and all the good things that come with it…. cake and presents! Now treat yourself and purchase collagen at the link HERE!
